Seeger Baas (1979) claims that his subject matter isn’t based on current events, nor would he call them spectacular.
He finds inspiration from images he comes across on the web and in the world around him. Old family albums are a source of inspiration too. The more trivial, the better. But even when he finds something that catches his eye, it’s still a question whether he succeeds in turning it into a piece he’s actually satisfied with.

“I don’t want a subject to be intrusive. I want the work to feel abstract, without it becoming abstract art. My paintings are usually very small. I think that’s because I don’t want to make too much of a statement. Also, my attention span isn’t great, so I can deal with tiny surfaces just an enough amount of time.”
